Next Sunday we will observe our annual St. Liborius Day. As a parish, this is our special day of the year. In our personal families we all have special days when we get together, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries, and such. This is our day to get together as Lord’s family represented as St. Libory’s. With the upmost urgency I want to beg you to attend. I know that the procession could be difficult for some to walk. That is why we have arranged again to have a trailer with seats for those who shouldn’t walk the sometimes-rough path in the cemetery. Last year there was plenty of empty room in the trailer. So please come and don’t be embarrassed to use this convenience. As last year, there will be activities for the kids, and we will again take a group photo. These photo’s make a great record of our parish. It would be wonderful to have everyone present! Finally, I need to point out something very important. As you know, Catholic devotional practices have fallen largely into disuse. We need for the good of our children, our community, our nation and our own good to turn that around. As Catholics we don’t just pray with our mind and hearts, but we also pray with our bodies. The procession is not a pageant or parade. It is a walking prayer, a mini pilgrimage. Your participation opens up the door of your soul to receive graces from the Lord. What need is on your heart? What troubles your soul? What thought brings tears? Bring it next week. Pour it out to the Lord. With the intercession of our patron, St. Liborius, God will hear your prayer. Please, come! Yours in Christ our Lord, Fr. Sid.
