Sunday, July 24th, we will be celebrating the feast day of our parish patron, St. Liborius. We have had mix attendance in the past. I know it’s a time when many are having their last chances at vacations with kids before school begins. Sometimes it’s hot. But I hope you will prayerfully consider attending our celebration. As you recall we have a Eucharistic procession around the parish grounds, ending with a litany said in the church. We have, (thanks to Gene and Sheila Horak) a trailer for those who have difficulty walking and parents with infants. Yes, it does involve some walking. Let’s talk about that walking. One of the things about the Catholic faith that I appreciate more and more is how it is integrated with all aspects of our daily life. Theologically it is called incarnation, the Word made flesh. Just as God became flesh in Christ Jesus, so God wills that you and I become God made flesh in the everyday living of our lives. It is a lofty goal, but it is in fact God’s will for each and every believer. Ultimately, this will be realized fully in heaven after the resurrection of the bodies of all the faithful. So, what does this have to do with us walking in the Eucharistic procession? Our Catholic understanding of prayer guides us to realize that every aspect of the living out of our lives is to be a form of prayer before God. Yes, even our steps throughout the day. The walking in procession graphically reminds us that we are indeed following Jesus, in the procession and striving to do so in our daily lives. It’s a reminder to us and the community around us that Jesus is present, and He is still Lord, now and forever. So, please make you calendars and plan to attend. A blessing from the Lord will be yours! Yours in Christ our Lord, Fr. Sid.
